Reviews
The food was flavorful and we had a good portion one platter is enough for two people to share. It is a small comfortable place.
Good food ... Good service. However the meal was just barely warm, w/ the exception of the fish, which had been deep fried. The red lentils and veggies were flavorful, but not was was hot. Our meal would have been far better had our platter selections been hot with heat.
This last time they seemed a little inattentive, but I could not say what the reason. None the less, I enjoy the place and the food.
Good food (a bit spicy for my taste) and excellent, friendly service
Good food, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere
Bowl selections were great, but food could've been hotter with heat, in the fish tasted like it had been deep-fried in old oil.

This is our favorite Ethiopian restaurant...without question. My son asks to come for his birthday.
nice ambiance
Waitresses were great! The meal was good and it was a true different dining experience.
service was very attentivefood was excellent
Great food, and really nice decor. Central location just outside of downtown Silver Spring. A bit more attentiveness on the part of the waitstaff would be nice, but no complaints.
Food was tasty but a bit bland.
The menu has changed and the selection and quality weren't as good as they used to be.
Food was very good and came to the table quickly, but the service was slow in general.
We ordered vegetarian and our friend ordered meat, but the server brought everything out on the same tray. Definitely not cool for vegetarians!
The Ethiopian dining experience was great. Great service and food.
The Ethiopian dining experience was great. Great service and food.
It was really good! First, we were seated at a regular table and chairs, but we requested to be moved to a more traditional and interesting low table and chairs, and were promptly accommodated.
The food was really good but the service was poor. All the vegetarian dishes were vegan, which was great. The service was really disorganized. One server asked us to sit and wait for a table and then we were forgotten and had to insist to be seated when a server was about to seat the second party to come in after us. Our water arrived a bit late and was not refilled during the meal. The waitresses seem to be much more comfortable hanging out at the bar/cash register area than walking among the tables asking people what they need. Also, gluten is a problem. I called at lunchtime on the day I went there for dinner and was told all the injera is wheat-free. Then when we sat down to dinner we were told the injera is half wheat, and no, they can't make any wheat-free injera for us. So this does not appear to be a gluten-free friendly restaurant. It is a vegan-friendly restaurant. But I'm a little hesitant to use the word "friendly" at all at a place where the servers wanted to let us sit on a couch and wait for a table while they seated parties that arrived after us. At least they got our order right and the food arrived promptly after we were finally able to place our order. I will probably go back, with high expectations for food quality and very low expectations for service.
Food is good ... but NEVER hot enough with heat; i.e., even when returned to the kitchen.
Always reliably good.
Delicious food, excellent service, great ambiance, reasonable prices--what more could you want?
Good food and great service
The food was delicious and authentic.
Nice ambiance. Very authentic.
Slow service but great food and atmosphere. Will definitely go again!
Our server was not very put together and didn't understand what i was saying. The food was ok but nothing above average.
While the food was delicious, the service was extremely slow. It took probably 45 minutes or more from the time we came until we had food on the table. The waitress did not realize we did not have menus until after several minutes we had to ask for them. The waitress never came to check on us and we always had to flag her down if we needed anything. She was curteous when she interacted with us, though.
This is the first time we have eaten Ethiopian food so we didn't know what to expect. The temperature of the food was not as hot as we have been accustomed to. The service and staff were very good.
As senior citizens, we appreciate the recent addition of traditional (western style) tables. The food this time was more aggressively seasoned, and for us that means more delicious, than previously.
Very pleasant people, good food.
Wonderful environment and fabulous food. Thanks!
very gracious staff
The food was very good and we enjoyed the roof-top dining.
friendly and accomodating service. Good food.
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere!
The restaurant overall was fine. I have lived in Egypt for over 5 years and expected the food to be more like what I was used to when living there. For this reason, my rating was a bit lower than it might otherwise have been.
Enjoyed food and presentation.
It was my first time eating Ethiopian food so I didn't know what to expect but the food was delicious and the service was great.
Food was completely bland. Which is surprising for an Ethiopian restaurant. Service was amazingly slow and aloof. With all the other Ethiopian restaurants in that neighborhood, I have no reason to eat there again.
Food is delicious.
I've been to Addis Ababa many times and considered it my favorite Ethiopian restaurant, but it's gone downhill. The last 2 times I was there the food was mediocre and not even warmed. I can't bring company out for food like that, and I'm moving on to other restaurants.
I prefer Bete or Awol - 2 other local Ethiopian restaurants for more vegetarian combination options.
Service was incredibly slow. there were only 2 waitresses helping a full restaurant (more than 50 ppl)
the man that came by to see if we had questions could not really answer our questions
Would like to see more variations in the lunch buffet
Unfortunately the service is consistently slow. The server has way too many tables to be able to keep track of all of us. We waited a lot after each stage of the meal.
I love the food... but im continually baffled by how slooooow it is.
Service was a bit spotty, our appetizer came after our meal, and the food could be spicier.
survey doesn't provide 2 or 3 times per week. hear of Addos Ababa too long ago to remember
Their Web-site is enticing but the experience is NOT worth the expense (even with the certificate); the interior was dirty and threadbare, the service indifferent, and the food awful.
I live in Hawaii now, but I use to reside in Silver Spring, MD ... and my husband & I ate there weekly. We only make it back here about once a year. Being able to eat there is a special treat!!! (esp. since, sadly, there are NO Ethiopian restaurants in Hawaii.)
Service is a bit slow!
The food is always very good, but they are weak on service -- this time was worse than any previous visit.
